PREAMBLE:
The Aboriginal Economic Development Action Circle is established to develop opportunities, promote, strengthen and develop new and existing economic development partnerships with the Edmonton urban Aboriginal community. These partnerships will assist Aboriginal people in identifying and participating in Edmonton’s economic development opportunities.
Wicihitowin: Circle of Shared Responsibility & Stewardship is the Steering Committee for the Urban Aboriginal Strategy and has developed a collaborative granting process for the Aboriginal community. As part of Wicihitowin Circle, this Action Circle will identify priorities for inclusion into the Wicihitowin Plan for the Collaborative Granting Process for 2009/2010. The Action Circle will confirm community needs through consultation, inclusion and strategic planning, solicit proposals to meet Action Circle needs, and prioritize projects using agreed upon criteria.
In order for this Action Circle to participate in the Collaborative Process (UAS) for 2009/2010 our focus must be on the development of the Terms of Relationship document and inviting Economic Development stakeholders from Edmonton’s Aboriginal community to the table.
During the year of 2009/2010, the Action Circle will work on initiatives and develop a strategy to implement in 2010/2011 with resources from the Urban Aboriginal Strategy.
VISION:
Aboriginal people in Edmonton are full participants in local economic development opportunities.
MISSION:
The Aboriginal Economic Development Action Circle creates and supports opportunities for economic development and entrepreneurial initiatives in the city of Edmonton and surrounding communities by working as a collaborative group.
